The Communications Officer is an integral role in supporting the University’s internal and external communications to enable it to effectively meet the strategic and operational objectives across a broad range of audiences. Working to and with the Corporate Communications Manager and relevant colleagues you will support the delivery communication and English and Welsh translation requirements across a broad range of on-and off-line collateral and channels.

The role holder will be a champion for good communication and develop highly productive, relationships internally to respond to requests for communications assistance. This will involve managing time effectively, writing, proof reading, editing and translating English and Welsh content across written, web, digital, campaigns, video, photography, audio and other publications/channels as required to support operational and compliance requirements.

The role holder will be proactive in planning, managing and implementing communication requirements and maximising opportunities to promote the university through relevant channels including digital and social media platforms. The role holder will work to ensure the reputation of the University is maintained, positioned and upheld and across all aspects of the University’s vibrant, dynamic and varied activities and successes.

You will be a proactive self-starter with excellent English and Welsh oral and written communication skills, with a methodical, thorough and organised approach with strong data management experience. This role requires a proven ability to prioritise, meet tight deadlines, to take the initiative and work without close supervision. You will have be used to working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, and possess diplomatic and persuasive skills to work well within the team. 

The communications team is part of the central University CMRA (Communications, Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions) department and the post-holder will be expected to contribute to the wider team, providing support to student recruitment and marketing activities including open days/evenings.
