Library and Learning Resources Assistants (Casual) work within the University’s Library and Learning Resources department ensuring that library books are processed and shelved promptly, allowing our stock, especially new books to be made quickly available.  You must be able to move library stock and shelve library stock in the correct order.

Providing first-line support to effectively deliver a smooth and reliable service, supporting our users including staff and students and maintaining a high level of customer service.  Basic IT skills are required whilst working on the desk to ensure the correct use of the library management system (issues, renews and returns) and to assist users with basic IT and library queries.  You will also support the Library and Learning Resources team with basic administration duties such as dealing with deliveries, data inputting and assisting with digitisation etc.

You must be reliable, willing to work hard and have the right professional approach to your duties. This is a zero hours’ contract and you must be able to work evening and weekends.   The post of Library Casual Assistant ensures that the library is staffed in the evenings and on Saturdays and some flexibility in working hours is required.  Some daytime work may be available.

Applicants will undergo a short test at the interview.  Sorting books into Dewey order.  Advice on the Dewey Decimal System will be given at the interview.

Welsh language skills are desirable for this post.
