Virtual Systems Engineer – KTP Partnership Associate

Fixed term fully funded post for 2 years. 

This role has been made available as a result of the approval of a Funded KTP Partnership project between Wrexham Glyndwr University and Unimaq Ltd.  The overall aim of the project is to create and develop a Virtual Reality training package for Unimaq’s customers.

Vision of the project:

This project will embed new immersive technology capabilities into UnimaQ so they can offer simulated assembly support, operator training, efficiency analysis and fault finding to the can making industry. By doing so this will allow UnimaQ to grow through broadening their capabilities, revenue streams and customer engagement by adding SAAS to their existing manufacturing offer, while also solving an industry problem, of reducing production downtime and training times.

Objectives and main areas of focus

  • Develop and launch new immersive technology training and support packages into the can making industry
  • Fully embed new immersive technology capabilities into UnimaQ
  • Develop and grow a dedicated simulation team to exploit the new capabilities further post KTP

This role will project manage the delivery of the objectives set as part of the project.  They will work with and utilise the expertise with the Faculty of Arts Science and Technology within Wrexham Glyndwr University to embed knowledge into Unimaq for future delivery and development.

The role holder will be based at Unimaq Ltd on Wrexham Industrial Estate for the duration of the project, visiting the university on an ad hoc basis when required.

The role holder will need to be organised, be a good communicator and enjoy a challenge.
