A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the occupational therapy team at Glyndwr University in a Practice Educator Facilitator role. The position is due to an expanding demand and capacity for our students to undertake placement experiences and the need for a specific role to support practice education needs more widely.

The department prides itself on a student-centred practice focus and the team is committed to delivering high quality occupational therapy education across the subject area. The practice education element and placement experiences are integral to the students learning and journey to qualification. The tutor team aims to generate occupational therapy graduate practitioners who are fit for contemporary practice in all health and social care areas and beyond into the independent and third sector. Ensuring capacity for provision of placements across all sectors is key to this new role.

We are looking for an individual who is a qualified occupational therapist who has embraced a practice educator role in practice and enjoys supporting students whilst on placement. We require a person who understands the demands and complexity of placement provision and its value to the student and ultimate qualification for practice. The successful applicant will work with the team, particularly closely with the placement tutor, students and practice educators to support and develop placement opportunities, to prepare students and practice educators for ensuring practice education is effective, timely and meets our regulatory pre-registration education standards. The role will involve training and development of our practice educators and coordinators who are based across our placement providers. The appointed person will explore new and emerging areas of practice within North and Mid Wales and beyond, and work with stakeholders to secure and increase placement capacity to meet student needs and create diversity within the profession, opening up opportunities and networking to enhance choice of placement experiences.

The appointed individual will be involved in placement monitoring, audit for quality purposes and ensuring practice education processes are followed using the placement management system and E-pad that allows students and tutors to monitor placement progress and submission of placement documentation electronically so the programme meets regulatory standards.

The successful applicant will be fully engaged with the tutor team at programme level, with the role focused on practice education, and as a consequence will be involved in validation of new degree programmes in occupational therapy, developing the placement experience for the student within an educational context.

Welsh language speaking is desirable.
