I am delighted that you are considering making an application for a post at our University, working in an ambitious, successful institution to provide a high quality student experience.
Wrexham Glyndwr University is entering an exciting new phase in its history and is driving academic excellence through a wide range of innovative and industry-relevant courses. Our region is a growing economic hub, bursting with ingenuity, creativity and ambition and we aim to be a major part of its growth as we work with industry and the government to harness the considerable talent found here.
Whilst Wrexham Glyndwr University is one of the newest universities in the country, established just in 2008, its history goes back to our founding college in the 19th century (1887) when we were known as the Wrexham School of Science and Art. Our on-campus restaurant is called 1887 to celebrate this and our ability to combine subjects in the creative and technological fields is as true today as it was when we first started to offer degrees in 1924.
Many more discipline areas have been added over the years, including Engineering, Social and Health Sciences and Business. Starting out with just our Wrexham campuses in 2008, we now have sites in St Asaph and Northop in North Wales, and in Kingston-upon-Thames in London. Our location in the cross-border region of Wales and England is reflected in the composition of our student population and staff teams.
Our ethos is to offer work-related learning, industry-relevant research and practice-informed teaching to our students, in a supportive environment meeting individual needs. If you can identify with these values, which permeate both our academic areas and our professional services, we would be very interested to hear from you.
Our staff receive competitive salaries, with high quality pension provision and excellent holidays alongside a range of staff social and well-being benefits. According to our recent employee survey, 85% of our colleagues consider the University a good place to work, which was 5% above the sector benchmark.
Whatever your job in the University may be, I hope that should you join us you will recognise the importance of your contribution as part of the whole university and its ambitions and that you will quickly feel part of the team.
