Wrexham Glyndwr University is committed to widening access to education for under-represented groups and as such we are first in the UK for social inclusion according to The Times and The Sunday Times (2019).

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Student Recruitment team for an experienced and proactive Recruitment and Widening Access Co-ordinator.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation of the University’s widening access plan. Duties will include developing activities for, and researching issues of particular concern to, under-represented groups including black and minority ethnic groups, people with disabilities, those from low participation areas, students wishing to study through the medium of Welsh provision and ‘looked after children’. The post-holder must be experienced in preparing and submitting bids for funding to support widening access activity in schools, colleges and the community. 

Alongside this, you will contribute to the department’s recruitment targets by building and maintaining relationships with existing partners, relevant education institutions and sponsorship bodies, including negotiating agreements and contract terms on behalf of the University where appropriate. 

In order to thrive in this broad and varied role, you must have experience of recruitment and marketing in a Higher Education environment, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have experience of developing and delivering successful events and be a confident and engaging public speaker. The role requires the ability to plan ahead, solve problems creatively and work on your own initiative, successfully managing a varied workload and delivering to strict timescales.

The ability to communicate in the Welsh language is essential for this role.
