An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the social work tutor team at Wrexham Glyndwr University (WGU) in a senior lecturing capacity. The social work department prides itself on a student-centred practice focus and we are currently 1st in Wales for satisfaction of teaching (The Guardian University Guide 2022). The tutor team aim to generate social work graduate practitioners who are fit for contemporary social work practice. Therefore we are looking to appoint a principled, committed and enthusiastic individual to develop and contribute to the provision of high quality teaching and research in Social Work.

The BA (Hons) Social Work is delivered in partnership with people who have care and support needs and their carers, Local Authority partners and social work agencies. The programme integrates professional training in social work with academic study to degree level. The successful applicant will work with the Programme Team, Partner Agencies, Outside In (the focus group of individuals who use services) and other stakeholders. As such the successful post holder must enjoy being part of a cohesive team while undertaking a leadership role where appropriate.  They will have a contributory role across the subject area, including being actively engaged in programme and module leading and as a personal tutor which includes supporting students whilst on placement.

We are looking for a person to join the team who is a qualified Social Worker. We also require applications from individuals with an academic background with experience of curriculum development and moderation. We are seeking to develop our Welsh medium provision and therefore Welsh language skills are particularly desirable for this role. All applicants invited to interview will be expected to make a short presentation to the panel, based on a relevant subject to the role.
