At Wrexham University we have ambitious plans to expand and invest both in terms of student numbers, innovative teaching and learning spaces,  and a whole range of new, flexible learning models. This is an exciting time for the University, and we are now looking to appoint a Learning and Digital Support Manager.

This is a key appointment for the University, reporting to the Information Services Director and accountable for leading a functional area responsible for Library and Learning Resource Services, Digital Learning and Academic Support/Academic Skills and first line customer contact via the Information Services Desk.             

The Learning and Digital Support Services Teams play a pivotal role in providing, maintaining, and enhancing the student’s learning, teaching, and research experience through the delivery of a comprehensive range of customer-focused, student centric services (both digital and physical). Managing this team is critical in providing a nurturing learning environment that ensures the on-going support to students, actively contributing to their success and retention.

To be successful in the role you will an established HE service professional with experience leading in at least one of the following functional areas, together with significant exposure and understanding of the others:-  

  • Library and Learning Resource Services
  • Digital Learning
  • Academic Support/Academic Skills
  • Services Desk and Customer Services       

The successful candidate will work as part of the IS Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement improvements in Information Services Strategy, policy, processes and governance and the development of service measures to ensure that the IS Directorate continues to deliver innovative, high quality, cost effective, business solutions.

In addition, you will work in collaboration with the Associate PVC (Academic development) and the Academic Development Team, to contribute to the development of high-quality academic practice and digital capability of the University’s HE practitioner community.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are essential as are people and budget management experience. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable.
